Tere Velázquez was born María de los Ángeles Teresa de Jesús Villar Dondé on 8 March 1942 and, like her elder sister Lorena, took her stage surname from her stepfather, the actor Víctor Velázquez. Actress, singer, dancer, model and presenter, she appeared in 86 films and television programmes between 1957 and 1996.
Her films include La sombra del otro (1957), Sube y baja (1959), Young People (1961), which competed at the 11th Berlin International Film Festival, The Rape of the Sabine Women (1962), Corazón salvaje (1968) and The Incredible Professor Zovek (1972). She died of colon cancer in Mexico City on 7 January 1998.

Like her sister Lorena, she was born Villar Dondé and adopted Velázquez, her stepfather's surname, for the screen.
