U.S. immigration firm · 6-month engagement

Cross-border immigration matter for a Latin American family of four.

The challenge

A mid-sized immigration firm took on a complex adjustment-of-status matter for a family of four from Latin America. The case carried a heavy volume of vital records that required certified translation into English, daily client communication in Spanish, and a level of paralegal support that the firm could not absorb without diverting attorneys from substantive work.

The work

Carol translated twenty-eight documents — birth, marriage, school, and police records — each delivered with a USCIS-compliant certificate of accuracy. She held weekly check-ins with the family in Spanish, supported USCIS form preparation alongside the lead paralegal, and maintained a single shared status tracker so the attorney always knew where each filing stood.

The outcome

All filings were submitted ahead of deadline. The family obtained adjustment of status without an RFE on the translated documents, and the attorney was freed from coordination work to focus on the substantive arguments in the case.

U.S. corporate boutique · 3-month project

Italian-American M&A transaction support.

The challenge

A U.S. corporate boutique was advising on the acquisition of a target company based in Italy. Closing documents existed in both English and Italian, the signing schedule had to be coordinated across two time zones, and the deal required an NDA cascade through several intermediaries before key diligence material could be shared.

The work

Carol built a bilingual closing checklist that both sides used as the source of truth, translated the governing documents for delivery to Italian-side counsel, and coordinated signing across eleven signatories spread between Milan, New York, and Boston. After closing she translated the transition memo for the operating teams.

The outcome

The deal closed on the originally scheduled day. The client retained Carol on a continuing retainer for Italian-language matters and has used her on three subsequent transactions.

U.S. plaintiff firm · ongoing engagement

Class action with predominantly Spanish-speaking plaintiffs.

The challenge

A U.S. plaintiff firm was lead counsel in a class action whose membership was overwhelmingly Spanish-speaking. Hundreds of intakes were arriving in Spanish, supporting evidence was largely in Spanish, and the eventual settlement notice would need to be issued in both languages to meet the court's adequacy standard.

The work

Carol handled intake translation and triage so that the firm's attorneys saw English-language summaries on a predictable schedule. She produced evidence summaries from Spanish-language source material, drafted a bilingual settlement notice in close consultation with class counsel, and served as the firm's bilingual claimant Q&A point of contact.

The outcome

Intakes were processed at the pace the firm had committed to. Bilingual claimant communications drew measurably higher satisfaction in the firm's post-settlement survey than in earlier matters where Spanish-language support had been handled ad hoc.

Estates & probate practice · 4-month engagement

Estate with assets in Italy, Spain, and the U.S.

The challenge

An estates and probate practice was administering an estate with real property in Italy, financial assets in Spain, and the principal residence in the United States. Beneficiaries spoke three languages between them, the underlying will and trust documents had been drafted partly in Italian and partly in Spanish, and Apostille coordination was required with both the Italian consulate and Spanish authorities.

The work

Carol translated the will and trust into English, coordinated Apostille certification through the Italian consulate and the Spanish chain, and maintained beneficiary correspondence in all three languages — keeping a single record of who had been told what, in which language, on which date.

The outcome

The estate was administered without any jurisdictional setback. The firm has since referred two additional multi-jurisdiction estate matters to Carol on the same model.

Spanish-language Google Ads + organic PR

Bilingual marketing campaign for a Spanish-speaking immigration firm.

The challenge

An immigration firm needed to reach Spanish-speaking immigrant communities in three U.S. metropolitan areas. Existing English-language ads were not converting, the firm's website spoke only to English-speaking buyers, and word-of-mouth referrals had plateaued.

The work

Carol conducted audience research in each metro area, wrote Spanish-language ad copy that read as it would have been written by a native speaker rather than translated, ran the Google Ads campaign, placed guest posts with regional Spanish-language outlets and community bloggers, and reported on results to the firm each month.

The outcome

Qualified consultations from Spanish-speaking prospects grew measurably quarter over quarter for the duration of the engagement, and the firm now treats Spanish-language outreach as a permanent channel rather than a campaign.
