The ranges below are anchors, not invoices. Most engagements are quoted after a short conversation so the price reflects the real scope — hours, languages, complexity, turnaround. A bilingual paralegal at a fair, predictable rate.

Project pricing is available for one-off campaigns; retainers are the default for ongoing programs.

Rates are anchors, not the final word.

A published rate card is useful to a point. It tells you whether the engagement is in the right order of magnitude. It does not tell you what your firm will actually be invoiced — that depends on hours, languages, document complexity, deadline pressure, and how much of the work overlaps with what is already being done internally.

Carol prefers to scope the work properly and quote a price you can plan around. That usually means a short discovery call, a brief look at the kind of documents and correspondence involved, and a written quote within a few business days. It is faster than it sounds, and the quote almost always holds.

For law firms that need a budget number before the discovery call: the anchor rates above are the right place to start. For everything else, ask.

From inquiry to signed engagement.

The path from a first email to an engaged contractor is intentionally short:

  1. Inquiry. A brief email — your firm, the kind of work, the languages, the rough volume.
  2. Discovery call. A 30-minute, no-cost conversation. Free of charge whether or not you engage.
  3. Written quote. A short statement of scope and price, usually within a few business days. Hourly, retainer, per-word, or fixed-fee — whichever fits the work.
  4. Engagement. NDA, W-9, and a brief statement of work. See the process page for full detail.

If a published rate is not the right starting point for your situation — for example, a long-running matter that has already been priced internally, or a translation project with an existing budget — the quote can be reverse-engineered from your number. The goal is a price both sides can live with for the length of the engagement.

What is included in every engagement

  • Mutual NDA and clear confidentiality terms
  • W-9 for U.S. firms; payment in USD to a U.S. bank account
  • Year-end 1099 where applicable
  • Monthly invoice itemized by hours, tasks, or documents
  • Replies in English, Spanish, or Italian — whichever the firm prefers

What is not included

  • Court appearances, sworn testimony, or legal advice
  • Translations into languages other than EN, ES, IT
  • Apostille or consular fees pass through at cost where applicable
